Fire-y Boredom...

Well... what does one do when one is bored with a candle?
Take photos of course!
I spent about 15 minutes just playing with long exposure... just 'cause. :) I wanted to do something different, but it didn't quite work out as I planned... so just did a fire spiral ;)

Honestly the photos turned out nothing like I was planning, but I still like them. :)
I think I may have liked them more if there was detail in my face... but I'm not sure how I would have done that since I was spinning around in a circle haha. I tried using my flash to freeze my face during long exposure, but since I wasn't just standing in one place, the fire crossed through my face and it just didn't look very nice.
I could see these being good stock photos, however.

  2. Oh my gosh! I HAVE to try this! I've done light drawings with flashlight, but they don't have the same effect at all.

  3. Thanks so much Pam! :D I'm having so much fun x]

Yes you do, Jillian! It's great fun, but at the same time, its a bit challenging to get the candle in just the right position and all that. You also get really dizzy xD. You could also try using a lighter or something, those would have a bigger flame.
A tip for you: The slower you go, the bigger the flame trail looks, the faster you go, the thinner. So If you want a long, thicker trail, set the shutter speed to abut 30 secs or so so that you have plenty of time. :)
